R.J. Huneke

R.J. founded POWkabam Comics to help usher in a source of reviews and discussions on sequential art done by artists themselves.

RJ wrote for and edited Ivan O’Neil’s Blackwood State comic book and is currently volunteering his web design, writing, and marketing skills to the long-running cartoonists’ resource, the Dare2Draw non-profit.

dare2draw, about us

The Dare2Draw, about us, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational organization dedicated to creating mentoring and networking opportunities for cartoonists of all levels, cultivating awareness of, and appreciation for the study of the sequential arts and the furthering and preserving of the comic book medium’s contribution to literacy, art and culture, through outreach programs, events and projects.

At age nineteen, R.J. Huneke traveled across the country from New York to California in a dilapidated van with no brakes or heat . . . in the winter. And it was there that he began to write his first novel.

He graduated cum laude from Stony Brook University, with a B.A. for English with honors. He now lives just outside of his birthplace of Long Island, New York.

Some of his upcoming creative projects involve graphic novels, children’s books, comic books, film, and more new novels!

The world started to become clear for R.J. at the age of four, when a reprint of Amazing Spider-man #1, found in a cereal box, introduced R.J. to reading, to art, and to drawing. Writing and drawing comic books quickly became a favorite pastime, and writing would never leave him from that point on.

R.J. continues to master his craft in the fiction, photography, film, comic, non-fiction, poetry, and art forms. R.J. has edited and written graphic novels, including a new book related to his Cyberwar novel, and is an avid reader and novelist. A former columnist for Newsday, he continues to write regular columns about technology, robotics, books, and popular culture. His publications to date, both online and in print, include work for Gadizmo, New York Wine Events, My Consumer Electronics, SciFiNow, The Apple Gazette, Examiner.com, and many more.
